FAQ

Medical Marijuana Frequently Asked Questions

Medical Cannabis is expanding in Louisiana. 420 Health Solutions works hard to stay up to date with the ever-changing laws and regulations, so our patients stay in compliance with Louisiana State law. However, 420HS makes no claim that this information is the most current available.

Any resident of the State of Louisiana whose condition, a licensed physician reasonably believes may be improved by medical marijuana is eligible for recommendation. Patients under 18 years old, must obtain permission from a parent or guardian

The process starts with a medical evaluation. 420HS evaluations are solely conducted via our tele-medicine platform.

Upon visiting the 420HS website, the patient:

  • requests an appointment.
  • completes our initial intake process
  • confirms the appointment
  • is assigned to a 420HS medical professional.

Prior to the evaluation, a 420HS medical professional will review the patient’s medical record. This includes the information the patient provides in the intake packet and any other records the professional deems appropriate.

In most cases the evaluation consists of a conversation between the medical professional and the patient. In rare cases the professional may deem it necessary to request records from other providers.

Unlike most states that have legalized cannabis for medical purposes, Louisiana does not offer a “medical marijuana card”. Instead, once a doctor (licensed in the State of Louisiana) determines that medical marijuana is appropriate for the patient’s condition, the doctor then forwards a recommendation to one of 9 dispensaries located throughout the State

Maybe – The need for any medical documentation is at the sole discretion of the 420 HS licensed medical professional conducting your evaluation.

To be eligible for Medical Marijuana, you must sign the Consent to Request Records in the intake packet.

This allows 420HS to access to any medical records necessary to conduct a thorough evaluation

For most patients, 420 Health Solutions will not need medical information beyond what the patient provides in the intake packet.

For cases where our licensed medical professional feels the need to review records of your diagnosis, (for your convenience, and when possible,) 420 HS will reach out and request the necessary records on your behalf.

The 420 HS evaluation costs $200.00 and is good for 30 days. Follow-up evaluations are $200.00 per evaluation.

Please be aware: The cost of the evaluation DOES NOT include the cost of the medical marijuana product

All fees are due at the time your appointment is confirmed.

All fees must be paid prior to a recommendation being sent to the dispensary.

No. While legal on a state level, medicinal cannabis remains illegal on a federal level. This prevents insurance companies from providing reimbursement for any type of cannabis treatment.

420 HS accepts most major credit and debit cards.

Most Dispensaries require the initial consultation to be in person. At that consultation, the dispensary staff will guide you through their product lines and help you choose medication tailored to your needs. After your first consultation, most dispensaries offer delivery at an additional charge. 420HS recommends that patients purchase at the dispensary in person, when possible.

The answer to that question is between the patient and the dispensary.

Under Louisiana law, your 420HS medical professional is only authorized to determine if Medical Marijuana is appropriate for your condition.

The actual dosing is a determination that is made between the patient and the dispensary technician during the initial dispensary consultation.

In any case your 420 Health Solutions recommendation is good for 30 Days and must be renewed at the end of that period.

Low-THC marijuana is defined as containing 0.8 percent or less of the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and more than 10 percent of cannabidiol (CBD).

Low-THC marijuana typically does not produce the euphoria (high) often associated with medical cannabis

Some medical conditions, like seizures, anxiety, pain, and insomnia, respond best to low-THC, high CBD marijuana.

Conditions characterized by chronic pain, depression, fatigue, nausea, wasting, and gastrointestinal disorders respond to high-THC medical cannabis.

The dispensary staff will help you determine whether CBD or THC is more appropriate for you.
